Bomb scare at Delhi airport as IndiGo gets threat call, search on

New Delhi, Mar 23 (Agencies) : Authorities in New Delhi are checking 10 jets operated by IndiGo after the company received a phone call about a bomb threat, police said on Wednesday.

A flight that landed in Delhi from Jammu has been isolated and is being checked, Dinesh Kumar Gupta, deputy commissioner of police at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport said.

“A call regarding bombs in 10 Indigo flights was received at the airlines’ call centre in Chennai around 10am. A Srinagar-Delhi Indigo flight, 6E853, landed at the IGI Airport around 3pm.

“All passengers were evacuated and a thorough check is going on,” Gupta said.

Nine other flights are also being investigated, Gupta said, adding that police are yet to ascertain the
destinations of these flights.

The bomb scare comes a day after a Jet Airways call centre received threats about bombs in five of its aircraft.

Jet diverted or ground flights in the wake of the threat that came within hours of a string of explosions ripping through Brussels airport.
