Kundapur, Mar 23: Two heavily drunk Nepalis created a scene in the middle of the road at Shastri circle here on Wednesday March 23 and even assaulted the locals and the police. The locals caught hold of them and gave them a beating.
Deepak and Roy, both from Nepal, were taken into custody by the police and later released.
Deepak has been working as a cook in a fast food restaurant at Trasi from some years. Deepak's cousin Roy was also working with him in the same restaurant. Both were addicted to alcohol. It is said that on a few occasions, they had got drunk and even assaulted the restaurant owner. Unable to tolerate their behaviour, the owner paid off their dues and fired them from the job.
Deepak and Roy have been staying together in a rented house at Hemmady. As soon as they got money from their previous restaurant owner, they headed to a bar in Hemmady and got heavily drunk. Soon, they started quarelling with one another and engaged in a full-fledged brawl. The locals tried to intervene and stop the fight, but they too were assaulted by the drunk men.
The locals immediately informed the police, who arrived at the spot and took the duo to the police station. They were soon let off with a stern warning.
However, the matter did not end there. The Nepali duo once again went to a bar, got drunk and then raised a din at Shastri circle, hitting each other in full public view. A crowd gathered and watched in stunned silence as the two continued to fight. Interestingly, both of them had training in judo style of martial art which made the whole scene look like something out of a movie.
Some of the locals then tried to intervene, but again, the drunk men assaulted them. When the cops arrived and tried to end the fight, the Nepalis snatched and flung away their caps and assaulted them. The locals who grew angry at this caught hold of the Nepalis and thrashed them.
Around 20-25 police personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control and took away the Nepali youths in the police van. The police then poured several litres of water on the duo to bring them to their senses. Thereafter, suspecting that they might have consumed drugs too, the police took the duo to Kundapur government hospital for examination. By then the intoxication began to decrease, but the youths continued to misbehave. The police took them back to the station, waited until the inebriation completely disappeared, and then let them off.
