Two killed in Kabul blast

Kabul, March 29 (IANS): At least two civilians were killed and seven wounded in a bomb attack in Kabul on Tuesday, police said.

The blast occurred in the morning when an explosive device (IED), planted beside the house of a former parliament member, went off in the city, causing panic among residents, Xinhua reported.

"The obvious target of the blast was Raffiullah Gul Afghan, former member of upper house of parliament, but he was inside the house when the blast took place," a police official said.

Those killed included a teenager and a woman passerby. Three bodyguards of Gul Afghan were among the injured, he said.

An investigation was launched into the incident and details will be made public later, the source noted.

No group has claimed responsibility of the attack.

On Monday, the Taliban militant group fired three rockets towards Afghan parliament building in western Kabul.

One rocket landed in the parliament compound, but no casualties were reported.
