Boy beaten up over refusal to chant slogan in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 30 (PTI): An 18-year-old boy and two of his friends alleged that they were beaten up by three youths when they refused to chant a religious slogan at a park outside their school in outer Delhi's Begumpur area, police said today.

However, the police said that the boy did not mention any such thing in his statement on the day of the incident and there were "inconsistencies" in his versions.

According to police, the incident took place on March 26, when three boys called up the police control room complaining about a fight.

When a police team reached there, it was told that they were allegedly beaten up with sticks by three other youths, aged between 18 and 21, at a park near a madrasa in the area.

The three boys were taken for medical check up, following which no injuries were found on the bodies of two and one had a fracture. An X-ray has confirmed the fracture.
The injured boy later told police that he was asked to chant "Jai Mata di" and his statement was recorded again.

After the police had recorded his second statement, they said they got to know from sources that the boy told others that he and his friends were asked to chant "Bharat Mata ki Jai".

However, the boy has not mentioned about having been asked to chant the slogan to the police yet, the official said.

A case has been registered under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) and investigation is on.

    No sentiments/honor for Father?
Most of the honors and events go after only mother.
    -Mother India
    -Mother tongue
    -Mother of all battles
    -Mother nature
    -Mother's place(parents house)
-Mother's day (lately Father is included)
    - All the hurricanes/cyclones only in ladies names.

    Think something for father too.
why not Bharat Pitha ki jai

We say Hindustan ki Jai, Bharath Ki Jai. We are all Indians and ready do die for our land. We know father (Pita) of nation Mahatma Gandhiji. But, I don't know who is so call Mata of India. Since you are referring a imaginary Devi as Bharat Mata whom you worship, I am not supposed to chant an idol's name just as you can not chant "Allahu Akbar" or "Praise the Lord" because it is against your belief. So, why force others??????

Come on lets be fair. Every day in Delhi such drunken bouts happen and nothing is reported. In this case the victim belonged to the minority hence this is published. Why was no action taken when a dentist was killed by a gang belonging to the same faction?? It was not in news.

The chant was not Jai Bharat Mata Ki, but it was only Jai Mata Di, which is a religious slogan pertaining to Vaishnodevi. Punjabis chant it as - Jai Mata Dee and rest of the Hindi people chant it as - Jai Mata Ki.

This was a non-issue. Only a Section of Media and Mr. Owaisi made this issue in larger. He is the one who is dividing the society for every thing to fulfill his political needs. weather chanting Bharat Matha Ki Jai does not endorse the nationalism. That is up-to peoples wish. But one this sure that this country is greater than any religion. Desh hai to hum, hum hai to Dharm.
