Artists of Sand Heart Udupi Bag First Prize Sand Sculpture Competition

Udupi, Oct 3: A ‘Sand Sculpture’ competition was organized by the department of forests Kundapur division, Maravanthe village forest committee in association with Field Services and Cultural Learning (FSL) India, in order to create awareness on sea turtles at Malpe beach here on Tuesday October 2.

The competition began at 10 am sharp and ended at 5 pm.

Various artists participated in this competition. They created sand sculptures on different themes such as ‘Turtle incarnation’, ‘Life cycle of sea turtle’ and ‘Relationship between human beings and turtle’.

‘Life cycle of sea turtle’, sculpted by Sand Heart Udupi secured first place. A cash prize of Rs 25,000 was awarded to the winners.

I B Srivastav, chief conservator of forest (wildlife), Bangalore, V Ponnuraj, deputy commissioner, R M N Sahay, director of Karnataka Cashew Development Board, Mangalore, R K Srivastav, deputy conservator of forest Kundapur division were present.
