LeEco to help Akshaya Patra take midday meal scheme to all

New Delhi, Mar 31 (IANS): After making its mark in the Indian smartphone market, Chinese smartphone maker LeEco has now extended its support to Akshaya Patra Foundation -- a non-profit organisation that is providing midday meals for over 1.5 million schoolchildren in 10 states in India.

As part of “LeEco Day,” the firm has made a significant contribution to the NGO to bolster its reach in schools in other states, a statement said on Thursday.

According to the firm, it will ensure mid-day meals for two children for every LeEco device sold.

The mission of the Akshaya Patra Foundation is to reach five million children by 2020 and LeEco hopes to continue its association to help them meet the goal.

The phenomenal success of LeEco Day with its bounty of benefits and offers worth Rs. 8 crore, has been touted as one of the largest and most attractive shopping carnivals organised by a smartphone brand.

The association with Akshaya Patra is an acknowledging of the love and admiration it has received in India by generously returning a part of the LeEco Day's proceeds back to the society.

LeEco, formerly known as Letv, is an internet and technology company with multiple internet ecosystems across content, devices, applications and platforms.
