European Parliament president invited to India


Brussels, Mar 31 (IANS): With parliaments of India and the European Union having a vibrant engagement, India has invited European Parliament President Martin Schulz for a visit.

“President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, has been invited to visit India this year,” external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said.

The invitation was extended during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's daylong visit to Brussels on Wednesday, during the course of which he attended the 13th India-EU Summit.

Following the summit, Schulz, along with president of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer, joined European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker in a working dinner hosted in honour of Modi.
