Puttur: Student alleges having been raped by auto driver

Puttur, Mar 31: A complaint was filed in Kadaba police station late night on Tuesday, alleging that an auto rickshaw driver had raped a student at Ajana in Aittoor village.

The student, in her complaint, has named the accused as Umesh, an auto rickshaw driver. She has claimed that she and an auto driver from Mardhala village, Umesh, were in love with each other since the last two years. She also has alleged that Umesh had developed physical relationship with her after promising to marry her.

She said that on Tuesday, Umesh had taken her in his auto rickshaw to a forest area in Ajana and raped her. She was left behind by him while returning alone, she added. Later, another person, Prashant, brought her back in an auto rickshaw, she stated.

Kadaba station house officer, Umesh Uppalige, who made inquiries, has registered a case against Umesh, The accused is absconding, and policemen are looking for him.
