Kundapur, Apr 2: The first convocation ceremony of Moodlakatte Institute of Technology at the college campus here on Saturday, April 2.
Addressing the gathering superintendent of police (SP) Annamalai urged the students to go beyond studies and engage themselves in extra-curricular activities too.
"Students should not confine themselves to academic achievements alone but prepare themselves to face the challenges of life. The students who sit in the last benches are usually the ones who achieve something in life," Annamalai said.
Dr Ganesh Aithal, dean (Research), MITE Moodbidri was the chief guest. Dr Prarthana Gowda, research assistant, IISC, Bengaluru was the guest of honour.
College president Siddarth J Shetty presided over the programme. College principal Professor Sathish S Amsadi and heads of the departments were present on the dais.
Degree certificates were presented to BE graduates. Poojashree B P and Sabhyath Shetty compered the programme.
The annual day of the college was celebrated later in the day. SP Annamalai and Prof A C Hegde, professor, chemistry department, NITK Suratkal were the chief guests. Anand C Kunder, businessman were the guests of honour.

Head of the department of MBA, Prof Seema Saxena welcomed. Professor Shashikala L, head of the department of civil engineering compered the programme. The students presented a delightful cultural programme.
