Bengaluru, Apr 4 (DHNS): The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has identified a few people, including a couple of teachers, as suspects in the II PU Chemistry question paper leak.
The prime suspect has been identified as Kiran, who has been absconding since news about his involvement spread, said the police.
“We think Kiran is the prime conspirator and we can’t say anything specific about his involvement until we nab him,” a senior police officer said.
There were reports that the other suspects have been identified as Obalesh, a government private aided schoolteacher Manjunath and Satish. The police also suspect the involvement of two PWD engineers.
The police said they have gathered vital leads and are still in the process of questioning the suspects. Until Kiran’s arrest and subsequent interrogation, the claims of those being questioned now can’t be trusted, said the police.
During questioning, the suspects claimed that they were in touch with Kiran and that he leaked the question papers which were sold for over Rs 14 lakh. They claimed that Kiran has links in the PU Board and managed to get the paper using his connections, said the police.
“We are still questioning the 40 PU Board officials who have been suspended. It is not immediately known if any of the suspended officials were in touch with Kiran. The two cellphones of Kiran are switched off and the CID is following his movements,” added the officer.
