Mumbai, Apr 5: “Education is that which converts a man as a human being, with humanity, compassion, broad mindedness, skill, discipline, confidence, help and fraternity, values, patience etc. Education is a continuous process. Light is the indication of knowledge. It is the root of all-round development. Just like a monkey does not know the value of a jewel, an illiterate person does not know the value of
power, status and wealth acquired by him. The educational institute is an example not only for the country, but for the world. The task of the institute to take one towards knowledge from ignorance, to light from darkness is commendable, said Mumbai university vice chancellor Dr Sanjay V Deshmukh. He was speaking as the chief guest at the 57th foundation day celebrations of Vidya Prasaraka Mandala.
Vidya Prasaraka Mandala chief honorary secretary Dr P M Kamath explained about the founding of the institute, the way it grew, the projects taken up for the all-round development of the students, facilities and revolution in education by giving an example of V P M Integration National School, Airoli.
Dr P M Kamath, Sanjay V Deshmukh, Dr K Mohan, Mandal assistant secretary B H Katty, joint secretary Chitrakshi Shetty, principal Nirupa Jorapura were present on the dais. Mandala office bearers, retired principals, principals, teachers, parents and students formed part of the audience.
Principal of Kannada High School and Junior College Nirupa Jorapu who is due to retire from service was introduced by teacher Sunitha G Mataru. The guests draped a shawl around her, presented flowers and fruits and honored her.
The programme started with a prayer by teacher Shailaja G Deshpande. Teacher Ashwini P Bangera compered the programme. Mandala joint secretary Chitrakshi proposed the vote of thanks. Students presented a cultural programme. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
