Rain in Himachal brings mercury down


Shimla, April 5 (IANS): Rains brought down temperatures in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, with the state capital recording a maximum temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius. The weather department here has forecast more thundershowers in the state till Thursday.

Shimla and nearby areas experienced overnight rain.

"Most of the areas in the state saw rain, bringing the temperatures down by two to three degrees," a weatherman told IANS.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a temperature of 16.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 33.4 degrees Celsius at Una town. The day temperature at Dharamsala stood at 24.8 degrees Celsius with a rainfall of 12 mm.

Picturesque tourist resort Manali saw 10 mm rainfall.

Keylong town in Lahaul-Spiti district was the coldest in the state with a low of 0.4 degree Celsius, while Shimla and Manali towns saw the minimum temperature at 9.7 degrees and 3.4 degrees Celsius.
