Mangalore: Kids Present Class Konkani Entertainment at Kalangann

Mangalore, Oct 7: Children stole the limelight at the 70th monthly theatre (Moinyali Manchi) of Kalangann on Sunday, bringing to life the choicest of Konkani songs of some of the greatest Konkani composers.
The evening event began with a novel and entertaining play ‘Shivn Zalo Gadavn’ the first production of Kalakull Drama Troupe of Mandd Sobhann. Based on the theme of preserving ones language, the play gave the audience a best combination of music and theatre. The play written by Rony Crasta Kelrai was directed by Ivan D’Silva.
Following this was the two-hour music treat by tiny tots under the banner of Ravller. The release of ‘Ravller’ the new music album by Lloyd Rego (Eliyar Taccode) and Roshan D’Souza Angelore at the hands of renowned poet and Konkani activist Melwyn Rodrigues, the children’s entertainment package unfolded on the open stage.
A vivacious team of around 15 talented children trained by singer Joseph Pinto provided a sensational music treat to the audience with Konkani’s golden hits.
The youngest member of the children’s team Melrick Monteiro, Nirmarga was the apple of the eye with his superb singing of Wilfy Rebimbus’ ‘Aicho Des Kithea Mujo’.
Little Amora Monteiro the lively Master of Ceremonies cast her spell on the audience with her eloquence.
Apart from the young newcomers on the Kalangann stage was Esther Noronha who won a loud of applause for singing ‘Pisso’ composed by the legendary Chris Peri.
The music was directed by Roshan D’Souza Angelore.
At the event, three children offered their contribution towards the cause of Konkani. Mayolla Nazareth, Melisha Nazareth and Esha Simona Periera, Bejai who had collected a fund for the Konkani-promotion cause of Mandd Sobhann handed over their contribution to Louis Pinto.
The 71st monthly theatre of Kalangann will present Patrao Music Nite by the Patrao brothers on November 4.
