Three held with marijuana valued at Rs.1 crore

New Delhi, April 6 (IANS): Three drug traffickers have been arrested for transporting Rs.1 crore-worth marijuana for supplying it in Delhi, police said on Wednesday.

Rohit, 22, and Sunny, 22, were arrested from Naraina in southwest Delhi in the last week of March while their associate Naga Vankat Kumar, 33, a wanted criminal of Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh, was arrested from his hometown on Tuesday.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said the inter-state drug trafficking gang was busted when Rohit and Sunny were held with 1,060 kg of marijuana which they were carrying in a truck to supply it to the gang's kingpin named Dharambir, who is absconding.

"The marijuana was brought from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh to Delhi in a truck by concealing it in 53 gunny bags. The contraband was carried along with 67 gunny bags filled with tender coconuts to dodge police," the officer said.

Police said they were now looking for three suppliers in Andhra Pradesh -- identified as Kumar, Kiran and Sriniwas -- who were named by the arrested drug traffickers.
