Udupi: KSIC organizes Mysore silk saree exhibition

Udupi, Apr 6: The three days exhibition cum sale of Mysore silk sarees was inaugurated by urban development and district incharge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake at Diana Hotel on Tuesday April 5.


















The saree expo was organised by Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation.

A huge collection of colourful georgette sarees namely 'Crape D Chain', traditional wedding silk sarees, georgette and texted sarees, water proof sarees, ties, scarves and many other products caught the attention of the customers and were major attractions.

Veronica Carnelio, chairman, KSDL took the initiative of conducting this exhibition.

D Basavraju, president, KSIC, in his introductory note informed that KSIC has made its mark worldover.????/ The sarees are made up of 0.65% gold and 65% silver. The corporation is always committed to fulfilling the required demands of its customers. It constantly earns huge profits and has received Rs 27 crore profit in the previous financial year.

Veronica Carnelio said that the corporation has contributed Rs 7 crore to the chief minister's relief fund in one year. Here the sarees are available at a concessional market price ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 2 lac, depending on the quality and design. KSIC adopted the e-jacquard loom system which has enabled them to introduce 5-20 varieties of new patterns.

She further added that nearly 10,000 sarees have been sold to air hostesses. Thousands of people have been employed.

Filomina Raj, sales and marketing manager, Narayan Ithal, financial section, H L Bheemappa, manager, Meenakshi Madhavan, president, Sandhya, vice president of CMC and others were present.
