US Secretary of State visits Afghanistan


Kabul, April 9 (IANS): US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Kabul on Saturday for an unannounced visit to Afghanistan, sources said.

Kerry arrived in Kabul around midday and he will meet Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah later in the day, Xinhua quoted the source as saying.

The top US diplomat will discuss with Afghan leaders bilateral relations, security and political developments in addition to the war against Taliban militants and other insurgent groups, the source added.

Kerry will also hold a joint press conference with Ghani later on Saturday, he said.
