Anupam Kher stopped at Srinagar airport, not allowed to visit NIT

Srinagar, Apr 10 (PTI): Actor Anupam Kher was today stopped by Jammu and Kashmir Police at the airport here and not allowed to visit the National Institute of Technology (NIT), which recently witnessed clashes between local and outstation students.

"He (Kher) was stopped at the airport and not allowed to visit NIT," a police official said. He said Kher was asked to return to Delhi as there were apprehensions of law and order problems.

Kher reached the airport this morning and was scheduled to visit NIT to "give moral support to the students". "Landed in Srinagar.'HOME' away from home. Will go to #NITSrinagar & meet the students & give them a warm hug & a special gift. :)" Kher tweeted.

"I have been told by J&K Police that I cannot enter Srinagar city at all. I have asked them to show me the orders. Still at the airport," he wrote on Twitter. He said he was not going to NIT to create problems but to meet the students. "I was going there as a citizen to meet students and give them moral support...If they say this is a law and order situation, I will say millions of people go to university, it's an open place, why should they stop me," Kher said at the airport. "I was not going there to create problems.I was just going there to give them a sense of warmth," he said.

Trouble had broken out at the campus when groups of local and outstation students clashed following India's defeat at the hands of West Indies in the semi-final match of T20 Cricket World Cup. The Bollywood actor alleged that police did not even allow him to visit his ancestral house or Kheer Bhawani Temple in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.

"Asked J&K Police if I can visit my ancestral home or Kheer Bhawani temple.Even that is not allowed. Basically it is #AirportArrest," Kher said.

what I agree is that Anupam should not have been allowed to enter NIT campus as it is undergoing a cooling period and we do not want another cinder in the form of Anupam which will ignite the passions again. But, to debar him from visiting his ancestral temple was unwarranted. That was his right being a citizen of India.

I don't rule out the possibility of a stage managed show..,
coz., storyline created..., - to stop the possible visit by Shriman Rahul Gandhiji and/or shri Kaniayaji.

    On a lighter side..,
Phobia is so strong that by hearing Shri Kaniaya's name few or all self proclaimed saviours of Hindustan are simply wetting themselves un-noticed.

"give them a warm hug & a special gift" Dar Deshbhakth, can we all know what is that special gift?? We know Feku went to have biriyani with a special gift and we got so many gifts in return like pathankot attack and inquiry in our soil by ISI. Recently we heard that terrorists have crossed to Indian soil, did they brought any gift which you wanted to share with these students?? The Party and the Sangh which thinks they are only deshbhakths are the the ones we have to be careful with. Why he did not utter a word against Bachhan but only against A Khan??

Who is AnuPM Kher? Strange that Sachidanand is not able to see the difference between AnuPM Kher, Kejriwal and RaGa. Don't compare this 'chamcha' with people who are duly elected by the voters irrespective of their ideological, political views and affiliations. Kejriwal, RaGa are elected by the people whereas Anupam Kher is just a stooge trying to hog the limelight. In what capacity is he trying to visit NIT students? Whom does he represent and what authority does he have? Now he is not the acting PM even since Modi ji is in India. So who is this Anupam Kher? If he is allowed, tomorrow every Tom, Dick and Harry would try to visit NIT which would create more problems than what they already have. What is he apart from a 'chamcha' (as told by him) of the PM? In whose interest is he trying to enter NIT and if given permission what message would he deliver, 'Bolo Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and Rest Die'? Not just AnuPM but even others who are trying to enter NIT must be stopped till the issue is sorted out. If Smriti Irani wants to go, she can because she is heading the HRD under which NIT is. But rest don’t have any rights to fish in the muddy waters.
