Mamata expresses grief over Kerala temple tragedy


Kolkata, April 10 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed grief over the Kerala temple blaze in which some 100 people lost their lives early in the morning.

"Very sad news from Kerala. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Prayers for those injured," she tweeted.

Some 100 were killed on Sunday in a massive blaze caused by a fireworks display at the Puttingal temple in the coastal town of Paravur, located about 60 km from the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram.

Over 200 people have been injured.
