Udupi: Boy waiting by highway knocked down by bike, killed

Udupi, Apr 11: A young boy lost his life after a motor bike hit him near Bikko Joy factory on national highway 66 at Uliyargoly Kaup on Sunday April 10 morning. The deceased has been identified as Shashwat (8), son of Nagaraj from Hallur in Muddebihal, Vijayapura district.

The father of the boy had accompanied the boy to visit a shop near the highway. For crossing the road, the father-son duo was waiting by the side of the highway, when a motor bike approached the spot from the direction of Pangala at high speed like bolt from the blue and hit the boy, who was not at fault.

The boy, who suffered serious injuries to his abdomen and chest, was rushed to a hospital at Manipal. However, the doctors who checked him said he had already lost his life. A case about the incident stands registered in Kaup police station against the motor bike rider.
