Petrol price cut by 74 paisa, diesel by Rs 1.30 a litre

New Delhi, Apr 15 (PTI): Petrol price was today cut by Rs 0.74 per litre and diesel by Rs 1.30, reversing the 2-month trend of rising rates.

Petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 61.13 per litre from midnight tonight as against Rs 61.87 currently, said Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the nation's largest fuel retailer. Similarly, a litre of diesel will cost Rs 48.01 compared to Rs 49.31 at present.

The reduction comes on back of two straight increases in petrol prices - Rs 3.07 a litre on March 17 and Rs 2.19 per litre on April 4, and four straight hikes in diesel prices. Diesel price was last hiked on April 4 by Rs 0.98 a litre and three previous increases totaled Rs 3.65 per litre.

"The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and Indian Rupee-US Dollar exchange rate warrant decrease in price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision," IOC said.

State-owned fuel retailers IOC, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise rates of the fuel on 1st and 16th of every month based on the average oil price and the foreign exchange rate in the preceding fortnight.

"The movement of prices in the international oil market and Rupee-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes," the company added.

    Will give all together after 20 years around 80 lakhs..so can borrow watch same as sidduji. I got good watch but if Dev kumar is paying me 80 lakhs than I will pay 20 lac and buy a SUV like Yeddy.

    When they increased 3.50 rupees for petrol on 31 march I Commented they decrease 32 paise per litre soon. But mistakenly they decreased 74 paise.

    Petrol costing Rs 21/ltr with added taxes by Center & State around Rs 34/ltr which again gets enhanced as commission & transport charges are added, is the fact of the price rise pinching common as well as middle class very harshly, as this insensitive govt. only wants the rich to flourish at the cost of common people who voted this outfit thinking of jumla of acche din.
    This govt., is losing ground steadily & will fall down in 2019, whatever day dreams blind supporters cherish.

    Amit shah already prepared everything as per voter's list to distribute Rs.15 lakhs. On afvise of modiji it's curtailed as people will spend quickly. Will give all together after 20 years around 80 lakhs..so can borrow watch same as sidduji.

    Whom is this jumla government trying to fool, when they increase its rs 3.50 p. and when reducing its .75p. Are they thinking that people are uneducated. What is available for .75p. Even 50 & 25 p are phased out. Beggars also don't accept it. Jumla government.

    Now onwards we want to stay with same Jhumla Government...for long run. No idea...how long..may be upto qayamaat..because no solid opposition. Is it not possible to adjust. During UPA..many petroleum ministers changed and become upset as not able to manage properly. Ab le lo na..0.75 paisa..collect kar ke dhabbe mein rakh do. Aakhir count karna..kitna fayaad huaa..aakhir mein. I dont think so even such incentives given by congress.
