Man bobbitised, killed for alleged rape; buried by 8 women

Guwahati, Apr 21 (Hindustan Times) : An Adivasi woman killed and bobbitised a man for allegedly attempting to rape her, and later buried his body in a crematorium with help from her friends.

Officials in north-eastern Assam’s Biswanath Chariali police district said Rita Orang and her husband were arrested on Tuesday night for killing a youth identified as Krishna Bhumij.

The incident took place in the district’s Bharajuli village on April 4, but came to light 15 days later when members of Krishna’s family told the police he was missing.

“While working on the missing report, we learnt Krishna was killed. His body was exhumed on Tuesday night and sent for autopsy,” Biswanath Chariali’s superintendent of police Anjur Jain said.

Krishna, he added, was a criminal and wanted in two cases.

Rita told the police she hacked Krishna with an axe after he tried to rape her and her daughter in their house on April 4.
“After he fell on his back, I chopped off his private parts as I thought he might survive the attack and retaliate,” she said.

Krishna, however, did not survive the blows.

Rita called seven women, her friends, and they buried the body in the crematorium.

“We are investigating the role of the other women, and will take action if necessary,” Jain said.
