Fire at Delhi landfill


New Delhi, April 21 (IANS): A fire broke out at a landfill site in north Delhi's Bhalswa area on Thursday and fire tenders were rushed to douse the blaze, an official said.

A fire department official said information about the incident was received at 7.50 a.m. and two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.

Bhalswa landfill site is spread over 21 acres and was commissioned in 1994. It receives about 2,700 tonnes of garbage everyday, an official said.
