Two Goan Gems Honoured on their Birthdays

Panaji, Oct 15: Two Goan gems, 'King of Tiatr' Padma Shri M Boyer and senior journalist Gurudas Sawal were honoured on their birthdays on October 11 and 12 respectively at two different functions organized by Queeny Productions and Publications and Goa Union of Journalists respectively.

Senior Tiatrist, better known as the King of Tiatr and recipient of prestigious Padma Shri award M Boyer was remembered on his 77th birthday by the Queeny Productions and Publication. A warm celebration was held in Kala Academy where M Boyer cut his 77th birthday cake in the presence of eminent personalities which included tiatrists, writers and politicians.

On the occasion, publisher of the Queeny Publications and editor of Jivit magazine Michael Gracias released a book on the life of the great living tiatrist 'Tiatr Palkacho Patxai, Padma Shriree M Boyer' at the hands of deputy speaker of the Goa Assembly Mauvin Godinho, in the presence of president of the Dalgado Konkani Academy Tomazinho Cardozo, Fr ConceIcao D'Silva and others.

On the other hand, senior journalist and chief reporter of Marathi daily Navprabha, Gurudas Sawal,  was honoured on his 58th birthday on October 12 by the Goa Union of Journalists. Sawal had just retired from the service on the previous day. 

Sawal was felicitated by Tarun Bharat Marathi daily's editor Kiran Thakur during the function organised by the Goa Union of Journalists in their office at Panaji. Sawal worked for almost 35 years for a single newspaper and has been most well known for his column 'Chakravyuh'.
