Udupi: Journalists condemn police brutality

Udupi, Apr 22: The members of district Udupi working journalists’ association staged a protest in front of clock tower near service bus stand, Udupi on Thursday, April 21 condemning the police brutally on Sharan Gurikar, a TV journalist of Bengaluru recently.

Srikanth Shetty, reporter condemning the incident said “The incident happened when Sharan was reporting furious EPF protest by garment workers. Police treated him as an anti-social activist and showed their brutality. These types of incidents are repeated these days without any reasons. There is no security for journalists. These incidents damage the healthy environment in society."








"The concerned police department should take immediate action against Hulimavu inspector and inspector Shekhar as well. The police personnel should get punishment according to the law and order." Shetty added.

Jayakar Suvarna, president, Udupi District working journalists’ association, Ganesh Pandelu, secretary, Chethan Padubidri, Umesh Marpalli and other members were present.
