Mangalore, Oct 16: The works of converting 37 kilometre-long National Highway between Suratkal and BC Road to four-lane has been resumed after the monsoons, said Kameswara Rao, project manager, TOTEM, while speaking to media person at the press club here on Monday October 15.
Speaking about the road construction, the project manager informed that 20 kilometres of stretch between Suratkal and city will be ready for vehicular traffic movement by May 2008 and the rest will be open to vehicular traffic by May 2009. He further said that brand new equipments worth Rs 10 crore have been deployed so far in the road construction.
The company has been awarded to execute base work that comprises of earth work, sub-grade, granular sub-base and Wet Mix Macadam. The work has been supported by two motor graders, two vibrator rollers, twelve tippers, two excavators and sufficient work force, he mentioned while speaking Daijiworld correspondent.
The company will complete the assignment on time as it has put sincere efforts, said the project manager, expressing confidence.
