Saudi Arabia fire tragedy, 2 bodies dispatched

Mangaluru, Apr 26: The dead bodies of 2 victims of the fire tragedy victims among the 5 victims from the district have reached their native places. The tragic incident had taken place on April 16, in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. 12 people had died in the fire accident of which 5 belonged to Dakshina Kannada district.

Constant efforts were made to get dead bodies to motherland for the traditional burial. The police department of Saudi Arabia refused to do the needful, in order to complete the investigation process. This had saddened the family members. MLC Ganesh Karnik and deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim took initiative in bringing this to the knowledge of ministry of external affairs. Officials from the ministry approached the Indian Embassy at Saudi Arabia after which it was arranged to send the bodies.
