Hit by car, pedestrian dies, occupant of car wounded

Beltangady, Apr 28: After a car knocked down a pedestrian at Sultangiri in Maddadka in the taluk on the night of Tuesday April 26, he lost his life. In this incident, a passenger in the car was also injured.

Abubakker (66), a local, was walking by the side of a mud road on Tuesday night when a car which came from behind hit him. Abubakker fell to the road, and suffered serious injuries to his head, face, and both the legs. Arrangements were made to carry him to a hospital, but he died on the way.

After the accident, the car went out of the control of the driver, and jumped into a roadside gorge. A woman, Leelavati, who was travalling by the car, suffered injuries in this accident. She stands hospitalized.

On the basis of complaint filed by Sahil Muhammed, son of the deceased, a case was registered in the police station here. Policemen have undertaken investigation.
