Puttur: Ophthalmologist from Mangaluru dies during childbirth

Puttur, Apr 29: Dr Soumya Prasad (32), working as ophthalmologist at Fr Muller Medical College Hospital Mangaluru, died of excessive bleeding on Wednesday April 28. She was a native of Pedamale in Ilantila village near Uppinangady in the taluk. She became victim of bleeding during her second delivery.

On Tuesday, Soumya had given birth to her second child. However, within a short time thereafter, her health deteriorated due to bleeding. Treatments given to her failed to improve her condition, and she died within a short period.

Soumya is survived by husband, Dr Vishnu Prasad, and two children.

    Very sorry state of medical facility in DK Dist.....If a doctor whose husband also a doctor meets this type of tragedy, what about common people especially in villages?
