Successor will be named after my death: Geelani

Srinagar, May 2 (IANS): Senior Jammu and Kashmir senior separatist leader and chairman of his Hurriyat faction Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Monday said his successor would be nominated by the party only after his death.

Scotching rumours that he was likely to name his successor, the octogenarian separatist leader told reporters here: "The issue of naming my successor will be decided by the office bearers of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat only after my death."

There was media speculation on Sunday that Geelani, who has not been keeping good health, would name senior separatist leader Ashraf Sehrai as his successor.
