Diesel taxi drivers bring traffic at standstill

New Delhi, May 3 (IANS): For the second successive day, the diesel taxi-drivers held motorists to ransom and brought the traffic to halt, as they blocked major traffic points of the National Capital Region on Tuesday.

According to the Delhi traffic police, the Delhi-Noida direct flyway, Dhaula Kuan, Mahipalpur and other routes leading towards Gurgaon were halted since morning by the taxi drivers.

The traffic police had deployed personnel to get the glitch sorted out, however the situation did not improve.

"The agitators had bought traffic to standstill at different parts of Delhi and NCR, including Gurgaon and DND. We have deployed our officials but it seems that it would still take some time to resolve the issue," a traffic police official told IANS.

The traffic police also reported road blockade between Mehrauli-Badarpur road and Saket metro station in South Delhi and towards Karkari more.
