Coach Pellegrini says Man City will eye goals against Real Madrid

Madrid, May 3 (IANS): Manchester City's coach Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that his team will look for goals on Wednesday, pressing from the very beginning of the match against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

In an interview with El Mundo newspaper, the coach stressed that his group will head to Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday with the intention of winning and not to snatch a draw, reports Efe.

Asked about other teams' failure to score goals against Real Madrid during this season's Champions League, Pellegrini said on Monday, "The statistics are to be broken."

As for staer Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo's absence during the first leg, Pellegrini said that the Portuguese star made a great difference during the past years.

The Chilean was astonished by Real Madrid's defensive attitude at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, and expressed disappointment over the 0-0 draw in the first leg.

"I think we had an attitude of trying to win the game. We will try to do exactly the same in Madrid... But we won't go to Santiago Bernabeu for another goalless draw. We will try to get up, press and score a goal, because we always want to score," Pelligrini said.

When asked about his future after he hands over command of Manchester City to Spanish coach Pep Guardiola next season, the Chilean said that he wants to train a team with great capabilities and did not rule out heading for Serie A or returning back to La Liga.
