No official estimate of black money: Govt

New Delhi, May 3 (PTI): There is no official estimation of amount of black money that has been sent to foreign countries by India persons, government said today.

"Determination of black money sent to foreign countries by Indian persons is subject matter of investigation and other follow-up actions by relevant law enforcement agencies, including Income Tax Department, Enforcement Directorate, CBI etc, which is on-going. "However, details regarding the amount of money involved in such cases are not maintained centrally," Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.

Asked whether Indian share in black money stashed in tax havens across the world is at USD 152-181 billion, as per the recent estimate by economists from Bank of Italy, he said there seems to be no empirical evidence to suggest that the figures arrived at on the basis of certain assumptions and presumptions, necessarily represent Indian's share in black money stashed in tax havens.

These economists have reportedly analysed data from IMF and the Bank of International Settlement (BIS) and applied certain assumptions to arrive at the estimation, he added.

The minister pointed out that by applying another set of assumptions, the same economists have reportedly estimated Indian share in black assets at USD 4-5 billion.

"In the context of these estimation, they have reportedly put the caveat that these estimations have to be considered with great care and in no way can represent firm data," Sinha said.

First let FeKU during election how much black money he has received from corporate world in India by Indians!!.How much venom these guys are infusing to the innocence mind. I salute Sonia madam and Rahul of the brave heart they stood even after so many false accusations , name and words. They proved that they love India and Indians. But some our own Indians after a little revelation ran away and laugh at these brainless hate mongers attitude.

PM Modi's government in 2014 Lok Sabha election promised to bring 'black money' within 100 days once elected to government.

They have even promised 15 lakh for each citizen's account which party president Amit Shah proved as 'Jumla'.

If the Finance Minister has no audit of black money, what are they going to bring back?

Why the government is silent on 4 Lakh crores bad bank loans debt and continue to target common man hard earned to tax the employees' provident fund (EPF)?

Is this policy of 'Good governance' where defaulter is proud to say forced exile and farmer is continue suicide?

Who wants an estimate ? You just tell the people how much money the Gandhis have in their Swiss Bank Account ! That is what you barked throughout your election campaign !

Moreover, how will you know the value of transporting money outside India in person ? Did you check Mallya's nine huge suitcases that he carried while leaving from Delhi Airport just the night before issuing an arrest warrant against him ?
