Pakistani court inquires about Indian citizen's release


Islamabad, May 5 (IANS): A Pakistani court has inquired about the arrest and expected date of release of an Indian national who was sentenced to three years imprisonment by a military court.

The Peshawar High Court has directed the interior ministry and provincial home department to inform about Hamid Nehal Ansari's release date, and ordered the prison administration to provide proper diet and medical treatment recommended to him by his doctor for certain ailments he has been suffering from.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Ansari, seeking orders for the inclusion of the period of his detention in a three years prison sentence awarded by a military court on February 10, 2016, Dawn online reported.

Ansari went missing after being taken into custody in Kohat district in November 2012 and finally in reply to a petition filed by his mother the high court was informed that he was in custody of Pakistan army and was being tried by a military court.

Hamid Nehal said he entered Pakistan with a fake identity card sent by his Facebook friends. They left him in a Kohat hotel on November 14, 2012 before he was arrested.
