Dubai, Oct 22: The 6th annual get together of Emirates Putturians was held at Regent Plance Hotel, Karama here on Friday October 19.

Local band “Sweet Melodies” took the crowd to the good old days of Konkani music by singing evergreen numbers like ye ye cathrina, chandrem udevn ailo, ye nari ye etc.

Antony A Mascarenhas in his presidential address welcomed the gathering and thanked the sponsors for their wholehearted support. Vice-president Alex and Nrimala Mascarenhas felicitated the sponsors.

Uttam Menezes mesmerized the audience with his magic of words and managed the event to the crowds’ expectation. The ice-breaking game with Konkani nicknames such as bangdo, dhubavi, kurli, monto, zalar etc were enjoyed by the gathering.

Games such as confetti nose, innovated breaking the balloon and mystery lemon enthralled the crowd.  Participants were surprised to see a spot prizewinner Verginia with 22 plastic cards in her pocket! Everyone appreciated “Chota Chathri” the novelty item.

Ancil, Pramod, Praveen and Lidia performed a Hindi filmy dance which was highly appreciated.

Michael D’Souza and Lancy Madtha presented the gifts to the winner. Lancy Madtha, Sylvia and Louis Rebello sang evergreen songs of Alex Madtha, a great composer/singer of Puttur.  Audiences were greeted with lots of gifts for entry coupons, novelty and games.  A sumptuous lunch with Mangalorean dishes was served.  Event came to an end with an hour of non-stop baila by ‘sweet melodies’.
