Dubai, May 10: Thumbay Hospital, began its International Nurses Day celebrations with the lighting of the lamp and professional oath taking in honor of Florence Nightingale - the founder of modern nursing, on Monday May 9.
The celebrations will be marked by a variety of programs until May 27.
Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group inaugurated the International Health Awareness exhibition held at the hospital on Tuesday May 10, as part of the Nurses Day celebrations. The theme of the exhibition was ‘nursing history of various countries throughout the world and the most prevalent disease condition in those countries which include the UAE, Europe, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Philippines and Nigeria.’ The main objective of the exhibition was to educate the community about various disease conditions, symptoms to be aware of, prevention and treatment for it.
As part of the celebrations and going by the objectives, Thumbay Hospital will also provide free medical and dental checkups to more than 3,000 people in various parts of Dubai, according to Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vice president of the healthcare division of Thumbay Group. The checkup will also include health talks covering important topics relevant to UAE like chicken pox, heatstroke, kidney stones, hygiene etc. The celebrations will conclude on Friday May 27, with a Continuous Nursing Education (CNE) programme for nursing professionals, accredited by MoH.
