Mangaluru, May 12: A youth, who was dissuaded by some life guards at Ullal from going ahead with suicide plan, returned home. However, later, he hanged himself at the bathroom of the house on the evening of Wednesday May 11.

Latish Gatti (30), son of Padmanabha Gatti, reportedly was staying with a family of relatives at Bhatnagar near Thokkottu since the last some years. Three days back, he had left home for work, but had not returned thereafter. His family members and friends tried to reach him over his cellphone, but it transmitted 'not reachable' message repeatedly.

After getting information that Latish was roaming around at the beach at Someshwar, life guard, Ashok, along with his colleague, Mohan, conducted search at there and found that Latish was seated on Rudrapade there. When both of them approached him, Latish suddenly went missing. By then, another youth, who happens to be Latish's relative, joined them. After finding that he had hid behind some bushes at the beach, they talked him into abandoning his negative thoughts and return home.

However, Laltish seemed to have remained stubborn on his plan to kill himself. On Wednesday evening, he hanged himself at the bathroom of his house. It is said that he was distressed with some developments within the family circles.

A case about the suicide was filed in Ullal police station.
