Bangalore, Oct 24: Ruby Jubilee of NBCLC was held at NBCLC, Cooke Town, here recently.

'Re-telling the story of Jesus' and 'widening the horizons' were the two themes on which NBCLC and its close collaborators reflected to give NBCLC a new orientation as the statutes of NBCLC were revised.  Cardinal Telesphore Toppo at the inaugural mass reaffirmed that NBCLC is now destined to stay with CBCI and Cardinal Varkey reiterated that his heart overflows with joy to see NBCLC becoming truly a home for all Sui Juris Churches.

The Sui Juris Churches shared with the 215 participants how their Church has retold the story of Jesus down through the centuries.  Bishop Joshua Mar Ignathios from the Syro-Malankara, archbishop Andrews Thazhath from Syro-Malabar and Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil from Latin Rite retold the stories.

Archbishop Oswald Gracias gave clear-cut guidelines on how the centre should henceforth deal with the supra-ritual and inter-ritual matters and train leaders to be relevant in the outer world.

On the last day, 13 theologians presented papers on some of the relevant areas affecting global societies.  Fr Antony Kalliath, CMI, prepared a synthesis and an action plan for NBCLC based on the deliberations of these days.

There was also an exhibition on how the churches have retold the story of Jesus in their own ways.  At the end of the first and second day there were colourful and meaningful dance recitals on how the story of Jesus can be told in art forms presented by the dance troupe Nrityavani of NBCLC and Kala Darshini of Vijayawada.
