Noomi Rapace to star in sci-fi thriller 'Boy'

Paris, May 13 (IANS): Actress Noomi Rapace, best known for starring in "Prometheus" and "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows", will star in the science-fiction thriller “Boy”.

Danish director Jonas Arnby is also on board for the project, for which Lotus Entertainment is launching international sales at the ongoing 69th Cannes Film Festival, reports variety.com.

Mattson Tomlin’s script for “Boy” centers on a teenage boy who is born with special abilities and spends his childhood switching names and cities to keep his identity hidden.

When his conservative, suburban neighbourhood discovers the risk he poses and blames him for a mass, tragic event, he and his mother must flee from the authorities who are looking to destroy him and seek the trust and support of an underground rebellion group.

Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Ben Pugh and Leon Clarance are producing the film, the shooting of which will begin in August.

Arnby made his directorial debut on the Danish horror drama “When Animals Dream", which premiered at Cannes in 2014 and starred Sonia Suhl as a teenager who discovers that she is transforming into a werewolf.
