Mangaluru, May 13: A retired teacher, who was suffering for long from ill health, committed suicide by hanging himself at his home.

D Gopalakrishna Bhat (66), resident of Mukrampady in Kemminje village, ended his life in this way. He committed suicide on Thursday May 12 morning by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of a room in his home, a complaint filed by Bhat's wife stated.

Bhat was living with wife here, and his children, it is said, live at Bengaluru.

It is suspected that Bhat was frustrated with the bouts of ill health he had been suffering from since long, and that this feeling would have driven him to end his life, it is thought. Bhat used to practice Yogasana at the room located in the first floor of his home every morning. On Thursday too he went to this room, but committed suicide there instead.

A case about the incident has been filed in the town police station here. Investigation has been taken up.
