Kundapur, May 14: A rape-accused lodged in jail since the last 14 months succeeded in securing bail from the additional district and sessions court here. The accused, Yogeesh D T from Mandya, was accused of raping a deaf and dumb girl at a resort in Byndoor, which had resulted in his fathering of a child through her.

Policemen from Byndoor station had charged Yogeesh of rape and cheating. The state high court had dismissed the bail application earlier moved by the accused. In the meanwhile, blood samples of the accused person, victim, and the child, were collected in open court and sent to Bengaluru for DNA testing. In a curious development, the test reports said that the accused was not the father of the child.

On the basis of a report, judge of the court, Rajashekhar V Patil, has granted conditional bail to the accused.
