Udupi: Retired civic worker hangs himself

Udupi, May 17: A person who retired after serving as the city municipality here as a civic worker ended his life after hanging himself in a thicket near Pangala here. He used the lungi he was wearing to make a noose.

The deceased has been identified as Kariya (61). He used to stay with his younger sister at Sadadi in Pangala village. It is learnt that he was a heavy liquor addict. His body was found hanging from a tree in a thicket at Pangala on Monday afternoon.

Kariya had gone missing since Sunday afternoon. It is suspected that he would have ended his life during the period between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon.
