Why is Modi still silent on attacks on RBI guv Rajan, asks Congress

New Delhi, May 19 (IANS) : The Congress on Wednesday said the demand for RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan’s removal could be connected with the central bank’s stand on disclosure of names of all willful loan defaulters and questioned the prime minister’s silence on the issue.

“Does the attack have to do with the drive to get public sector banks to declare the quantum of non-performing assets so that the extent of the rot can be exposed,” Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said.

“... an institutional decision has been taken to hound out the Reserve Bank of India’s governor. Why is the prime minister silent? Why has Narendra Modi not come out and spoken on the attack on the governor of the central bank; that is unprecedented.”

Earlier this week, BJP’s newly nominated Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Rajan with immediate effect, saying “he is mentally not fully Indian”.

The Congress leader said that the government’s silence on the matter is deafening.

“There is an obvious complicity in that silence. Or there could be another angle: While somebody is taking aim at the RBI governor, the real target could be the finance minister (Arun Jaitley).”

“The attack on RBI governor is not an attack on an individual. It is perhaps the most vicious assault on institutional mechanism in India in the last 67 years. No country can function without institutions,” he added.

Modi does not know the meaning of Fiscal policy and Monetary policy of the country and its international ramifications.
Managing Economic policies of the whole country is not as easy as managing just one small state of Gujarat with fiery speech and fake development facade with the help of paid media.

Modi is still silent on attacks on RBI guv Rajan - because this attack was sponsored by Modi & Amit Shah themselves.
This attack on Rajan is actually indirect attack on their own colleague Arun Jaitly FM, as they are finding it that Jaitley is growing taller than Modi-Shah Rajnath Singh as people consider Jaitley to be more knowledgeable about Economic polices and he is more intelligent than these BJP top brass.

All congrass men here, do not blindly support Rajan just coz he is targeted by Swamy.
One of the reasons for the fall of UPA is the high inflation during the last period of its rule. Rajan is the direct reason for this, he increased the lending interest rates to 8% which poured oil on already burning inflation.
If Rajan was such a genius, why his theory of increasing lending interest rates to control inflation didn't work out? Why he has now reduced the interest rates to 6.5%?
He definitely got some hidden agenda!!

Yes, it's the actual Top Economist who pulled India out of the worst ever economic crisis of 1991 who not only redeemed all 67 Tonnes of India's reserved gold that was mortgaged by Chandrasekhar's government, but with intelligence and clear vision steered the country on to right economic path by means of economic reforms. Despite all verbal adversity, all his successor doing is 'Copy paste'

Not having a degree is one thing and no one really attaches much importance to it but lying about it clearly signifies narcissistic behavior and that is not really expected of a leader. I'm not saying the leader in question has lied about it, but there are many unanswered questions as of date.

Why are some people so particular that a second term should be given to Rajan? He was appointed by Mr Chidambaram. He was hostile to the current Government though Mr Jaitely handled him professionally and Mr Rajan also in his later days softened down to act more professionally. Mr Swamy has serious complaints on Mr Rajan assisting Karti Chidambaram during ED investigation and it is hard to dismiss this. The best solution therefore is to let him go after the expiry of his term. We should find a new person to replace hims with equal competence. Congress is making it a political issue since they donot have any other work. Modi can simply ignore the Journalist's poke.
