Congress set to form government in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY, May 20 (Agencies) : The Congress - DMK combine is all set to form the government by winning 17 out of 30 seats in the union territory. The Congress emerged as the single largest party securing 15 seats against seven it won in the previous assembly elections. Its ally, DMK, won two seats.

The ruling AINRC has been restricted to 8 seats, way behind 15 seats the party won in the previous Assembly elections. The AIADMK won four seats this time against five in 2011. The BJP, PMK and PWA drew a blank.

Practically it has been reversal of results for Congress and AINRC compared to the 2011 Assembly elections. For the AINRC, except the Chief Minister N Rangasamy, all the four ministers P Rajavelou, N G Paneerselvam, T Thiagrajan and P R Siva were defeated. The party also lost seats where rebel candidates contested.

Four women have been elected to the Assembly for the first time after 1996 when there was one woman representative in the House. The surprise element was the big win by Deepam Ramachandran, an Independent candidate who defeated E.Valsaraj, a six time winner from Mahe.

BJP’s claim of the elections proving to be another step in the direction of “Congress-Mukt Bharat” is nothing but a preposterous claim aimed at self-appeasement. See the following facts:
In Assam, Congress vote share was 31 percent BJP vote share 29.5 percent. BJP won only because it had alliance partners while Congress did not.
In Kerala, Congress got vote share of 23.7 percent. BJP got 10.5 percent
In Tamil Nadu Congress had 6.4 percent vote share BJP much less
In West Bengal, Congress got 12.3 percent votes, while BJP got 10.2 percent
In Pondicherry, Congress won 30.6 percent votes BJP again nowhere

The above facts testify that compared to BJP the vote share of Congress has been higher in every single state including Assam. It is in fact substantially higher in all the other states. This also means that Congress won 115 in all while BJP won 90 out of which 86 in Assam alone.

Congress leadership stands exposed due to their negative approach and stand not allowing the parliament to function losing crucial time to debate various strategic issues of high national interest and passage of GST bill. Leadership in congress totally failed to read the pulse of the people who were not mused by their not allowing PM to function and deliver as per the large mandate given to him.

All the credit of this win must go to Mr. Rahul Gandhi. This win is all because of his sleepless efforts. All state leaders in which congress lost are useless ones who are completely responsible for loss of face for Rahul and they need to be made accountable. Rahul Gandhi should be made president of the congress party without any further delay and be d as PM candidate for 2019 to bring congress back to power. Thanks Daiji for publishing this motivating news for congress supporters.
