Mangalore, Oct 27: India has seen a phenomenal growth in the hospitality sector and hospitality is an important component in the Indian economy, Dr Sunder Naik, registrar, Mangalore University here on Saturday October 27.
He was delivering the inaugural address at state-level seminar on "Perspectives of Human Resource Development in Hospitality Sector" organized by Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management (MMCHM) at Moti Kala Mantap, Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management Campus in the city.
Hospitality is unique and different in its own way as students must update his or her knowledge, have positive attitude and achieving expertise should be habit. Being a part of hospitality sector one must imbibe HRD skills, he suggested.
Hospitality is culture specific to an extent; hence hospitality in India should not be the replication of American hospitality, although hospitality in other countries helps to greater extent to fine tune, he advised.
AJ Shetty, president, Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, presided over the function. KK Nayak, administrative officer, Laxmi Memorial Education Trust and others were present on the occasion.
