Udupi, Oct 29: The Udupi District Minority Forum held a workshop on the Right to Information (RTI) Act under the presidentship of Louis D'Almeida, in Don Bosco Hall here.

On the occasion, minority community members who won the recent municipal council elections, recipient of national award for best teacher George Castelino Nakre, Divo Puraskar recipient Dr Gerald Pinto and Konkani academy book award recipient Shirtady William Pinto were felicitated.
Advocate Ronald Furtado spoke on the RIT act. Taluk panchayat member Veronica Carnelio felicitated the elected representatives and others. She also spoke on Sandhya Suraksha, a social welfare scheme for the people above 65 years.
Forum's Karkala taluk secretary Victor D Souza and Ignatius Monis introduced the awardees. Nityanand Volakkad, who had won as an independent in the city council election, was also honoured. Volakkad released the forum's bulletin 'Samparka', edited by Dr Gerald PInto.
Rasool Katapady compered the programme and Khalil Ahmed proposed a vote of thanks.
