Moodbidri, May 25: Muhammed Ashiq (18), who was on the rooftop terrace of a house at Ramabail in Taccode near her died after he fell down from the roof on the night of Monday May 23. Ash was undertaking tin sheet fixing work when he slipped and fell down.

The victim, who worked as a coolie, was the son of Adam from Suvarnanagara in Taccode.

Ashiq was one among several laborers who had climbed the terrace of a house at Ramabail, Taccode, for fixing of tin sheets. Muhammed Ashiq, who was standing on the terrace, was transferring some iron items to another worker who was standing at a higher altitude when he lost his balance, slipped to the ground, and suffered grievous injuries. Although he was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the town, he could not be saved.

The policemen have registered a case against the contractor for entrusting work to the workers at night without putting in place any safety measures for them.
