Puttur: Coconut falls from tree, causes woman's death

Puttur, May 26: A coconut which fell from a tree hit a woman who was passing by in her head. The woman, who was seriously injured, died in a hospital later.

Veeramma (54), wife of Ramanna Gowda from Aralu, Bajathur village in the taluk, had visited her coconut plantation on Wednesday evening. When passing by the side of a tree, a coconut unexpectedly fell on her head and injured her. She was taken to a private hospital in the town for treatment. However, she did not respond to treatments and lost her life within a short while thereafter.

The deceased is survived by husband, four daughters, and a son. A report about this death was registered in Uppinangady police station.
