Sullia: Teenager drowns in Payasvini river

Sullia, May 28: A student, who was on a visit to the house of his grandfather, drowned in Payasvini River at Peralu of Mandekolu village in the taluk on the evening of Thursday May 26.

The deceased teenager has been identified as Geo Benny (17), son of Benny and Suni couple from Bellur Kolattilapara in Kasargod district, Kerala.

On Thursday evening, the boy had entered the river in the company of his grandfather. During this period, the grandfather briefly left to switch off the pump set. By the time the grandfather returned, the boy had drowned. After the man raised an alarm, two young men rushed to help the old man, and brought the boy out of the water. He was later taken to hospital. However, the young student breathed his last before reaching the hospital.

The deceased student was a PU student at a college in Kasargod district. His result had not yet been published. The boy's grandfather, N A John, filed a report about this tragic incident at the police station here.
