Mangaluru, May 29 : Harish Sherigar Donates a sum of Rs 15 Lakhs, proceeds of “DhoomDhamaka 2016” to various Charitable institutions and Student’s education.
As the saying goes, “It is always easier said than done”. But in case of Shri Harish Sherigar, MD, ACME Building Material Trading LLC Dubai, owner of Kannadigaworld.com, philanthropist, humble,generous and a well-knownsinger himself, it is an entirely a differentstory.
Since last six years Sherigar,under his sole stewardship with the support of highly respectable sponsors has been organizing “Dhoom Dhamakaa Charity Show”, in Dubaievery alternate year by inviting well known and highly reputed, eminent artists especially from Indian film Industry.
The proceeds from the show has been generously donated, after thorough assessment to various charitable institutions, orphanages, Sevashramas, education of poor students, medically ill people and less fortunate, at his native place Dakshina Kannada and Dubai through various charitable institutions, orphanages, Sevashramas, trusts, who are genuinely and actively involved in social welfare activities.
As usual this year also he has organized “Dhoom Dhamaka-2016” a comedy show in Dubai on 8th Jan 2016, with the involvement of renowned, famous Bollywood King of Comedy Mr. Johnny Lever and Jamie Lever along with other popular artistes.
From the income generated through the above show,he has donated Rs 5,00,000/- to Chetana Bala Vikasa Kendra,V.T.Street,Kodialbail,Mangalore,coming under the management of Mangalore Seva Bharathi Trust, Rs 4,00,000/- towards college education and school Fees( Education Fee) of city’s poor and eligible students,Rs 3,00,000/- to “Sevashrama”(Vradhashrama)Belma,nearDerelakatte,Mangalore,which is actively engaged in taking care of old people, who are being neglected and orphaned by their own kith and kins and also extended financial help of Rs 2,00,000/- to ShanthaMoily,who has been undergoing treatment for her chronic renal (Kidney) failure in Yenepoya Specialty hospital, Kodialbail,Mangalore for the past eight and plus years. Besides he has also given the financial aid of Rs 1, 00,000/- to a poor family, of Pernanki, near Hiriadka, Udupi Taluk for the construction of house for them.
All together a sum of Rs 15,00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakh only) has been donated by the couple Mrs& Mr. Harish Sheirgar by visiting personally to all the Seva centers, charitable institutions, Trusts and assessing their activities during the 1st Week of May 2016.
Harish Sherigar, besides being engaged in his business activities also supports and loves arts, has become very famous, popular, loved and adorned by the people through his social service and welfareactivities. Most sought icon among the people. Not only in Dubai but also in his native place he has been extending financial help to many students for their education.
Chetana Bala Vikasa Kendra,V.T.Street,Kodialbail,Mangalore
Harish Sherigar along with his wife Sharmila Sherigar, whorecently visited Chethana Bala Vikasa Kendra, V.T.Road, Kodialbail, Mangalore to handover the cheque for Rs 5,00,000/-lauded and appreciated the activities being carried out by the Chethana Bala Vikasa Kendra and blessed all the students, studying there for their bright future. After receiving the donation Shri VinodhShenoy, SevanjaliTrustee, thankedMr. Harish Sherigar couple for their generosity with great respect.
Harish Sherigar’s brothers, Prakash Sherigar,Shri Shrinivas Sherigar, Dr.Renuka, Advisor, Gokarnanatha College, Dr.U.R.Shenoy, Trustee, Seva Bharathi Trust, Narasimha Raju,Swayam Sevaka of Chethana Bala Vikasa Kendra,Shri Sunil Dath Pai and Shri Dhananjaya Nayak etc were present during the occasion.
Besides, Dhanya S Rao (20) who is also studying in the same school and brought laurels to the school and imprinted the name of Mangalore in international level by bagging two gold medals by participating in different categories in handicapped Olympics held in Yethens, Greece in the year 2011 was also present during the occasion.
In Chethana Bala Vikas Kendra, this started in 1992 through Seva Bharathi institution, along with imparting education to the handicapped, appropriate advice and adequate medical treatment is also being given for those who are suffering from blindness, hearing problem and handicapped.
Currently the activities of the institutions are being operated in a spacious two storied building, near Car Street, full fledged physiotherapy unit, steam therapy, Magnetictherapy, sensory park, Homeopathy treatment, job oriented education training centre, mobile physiotherapy unit for nearing villages and cities, blood donation camps, blood donation awareness camps, weekly medical camps, proper advice and suggestion centers, centres for the students who are weak in studies, picnic to special needs, medical camps for senior citizens, annual festival for special needs, accommodation for blind children, medicalassistance to the people suffering from Thalassemia,Navachethana Autism centre, treatment instrument’s bank( medical assistive bank) etc have been organizing, conducting through Seva Bharathi, Mangalore with the help, generosity of thousands of likeminded, socially responding people.
Sevashrama-Women’s Vradhashrama, Belma, Deralakatte, UllalaTaluk, D.K:-
This particular ‘Sevashrama’ was established in the year 2013 under the leadership of Dr.G.R.Shetty, in a well equipped building constructed at the cost of Rs 80 lakhs,at Belma, near Deralakatte. In this ‘Sevashrama’ childless woman, women who lost children and women with children but have become orphans, destitute due to sheer negligency, ignorance by their children and women above 60 years of age are being taken care of and fed.
They are being provided with proper accommodation. Besides being served pure and hygienic food, proper medical treatment is also being given for their healthy life. Meditation is also being taught here.
Apart from being taken care of 17 members currently in this centre, still there is enough space for accommodating more than 40 women. Besides being given priority to people from Mangalore jurisdiction, eligible orphaned, destitutes old women from other districts, states are also being admitted without any prejudice regardless of their religion, caste, colour, creed and language.
Geetha R Shetty, head of this sevashrama and lioness ambassador said in her speech that since we are not receiving any recognition, aid or response from the government, if donors, likeminded people and philanthropists come forward and join our hands in mobilizing the required resources, fund, we can still serve and taken care of more and more old women, orphans and give them better and peaceful life.
Ashram’s founder Dr.G.R.Shetty and head lion and lioness member Smt.Geetha R Shetty after receiving the donation given by Shri Harish sherigar and his wife Sharmila Sherigar, thanked the couple for their generosity and blessed them.
