Abducted Nepal businessman rescued in Bihar


Patna, May 29 (IANS): Three days after a businessman was kidnapped in Nepal, he was rescued from East Champaran district of Bihar on Sunday, police said.

A ransom of Rs.50 crore was demanded for the release of Suresh Kedia, 56, who was kidnapped in Bara district of Nepal on Thursday, police said.

At least one of the abductor was arrested and the vehicle used in the kidnapping seized on Saturday when a joint police team recovered Kedia from Kodwa, Motihari Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana said.

Kedia is a businessman from the leading Kedia Group at Birgunj in Nepal.

According to police superintendent Rana, criminal gangs of India and Nepal were behind the abduction.

An investigation was launched into the incident, the police officer said.
